Your children may come to you from China or Russia or Guatemala or one of the other sending international adoption countries. You may meet them as babies or toddlers or even older. They may have spent their early years in an orphanage. Perhaps they already speak Korean or Vietnamese. They are certainly accustomed to the foods and traditions and rhythms of a foreign country.

When they arrive in the United States, they may look different than you, making yours an interracial family. When they reach school age, they may have special needs: speech therapy, English as a Second Language, classes for emotional problems, or medical situations.
