Books for Adoptees & Birth Parents If you are an adoptee, a birth parent or an adoptive parent, you may like to read books by people who have shared your experience. Some of you might also like to step into the shoes of other adoption triad members to try to learn more about their perspectives. The different perspectives on adoption issues over the life cycle, such as how it feels to have been placed for adoption or to have given up a child for adoption, to experience a search and reunion and the feelings of each triad member about adoption add a texture to how you understand your own feelings you’re your own experiences with adoption.
..... As an adoptive parent, you probably want to hear what adult adoptees have to say about what their parents did right and what they wish had been done differently. What do they feel about how they were told about their adoption, received birth family information, were exposed to cultural information and how their parents handled reactions from others about their adoptive status and reacted to their curiosity or feelings about their adoption.
As a birth parent, you may feel validated or provoked to think or feel differently as you read books by other birthparents. And as an adoptee you may have the chance tomake sense of feelings you didn't understand before or to frame questions more clearly so that you can find the answers you are really looking for. We think of this section as a place for people to walk with others who have been on their path and to open up new avenues in their journeys. Tapestry categories: Adoption Books: Tapestry Books I.
